Chinya was established as a restaurant in 1880 in Asakusa Tokyo, and became a sukiyaki specialty restaurant in 1903. Because of its dedication to the taste and quality of sukiyaki the restaurant has been loved by many customers for generations, and has made a name for itself as one of the leading sukiyaki restaurants in Japan. Due to the deterioration of the store and the global situation it was temporarily closed in August 2021. But on the 18th of March 2022 (Asakusa’s birthday) it was relocated a short distance away along Edo-dori overlooking the Sumida River, and re-opened as the “Asakusa Main Store” to let its tradition and commitment live on. Since opening their doors, the restaurant has been dedicated to the pursuit of deliciousness. At Chinya, sukiyaki is served beginning with the meat which is covered in an aroma of Senju leeks. After that, it is enjoyed to the fullest with an assortment of carefully selected vegetables in a slightly sweetened sukiyaki broth. The course also offers appetisers and entrees that allow you to savour the different four seasons. A shabu-shabu course is also offered as well as the sukiyaki. In addition, “Meat Shop Chinya” located next door not only sells rare marbled beef, but also shigureni (stew) beef, and various other cuts all prepared in store.
